Republican National Committee Promotes Crypto and AI Initiatives in Platform Draft

Published:

A Republican National Committee (RNC) panel passed a draft platform outlining crypto and artificial intelligence (AI) policies on July 8.

According to Politico, the panel passed the draft platform with 84 votes in favor and 14 against.

The convention must finalize the platform in a future vote.

The Republican party aims to oppose Democrats’ crypto crackdown and prevent the creation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC). They aim to protect Bitcoin mining rights, self-custody of crypto, and the ability to transact without government surveillance.

The party also plans to repeal President Joe Biden’s executive order on AI, which they deem as restrictive to innovation.

This platform supports AI development rooted in Free Speech and Human Flourishing, contrasting President Biden’s order which is viewed as promoting Radical Leftwing ideas.

Platform reflects Trump’s stance

The Republican draft platform aligns with the views of their presumptive presidential nominee, Donald Trump, who has previously addressed crypto and AI issues.

Trump has consistently opposed CBDCs, expressing his intentions to make the US a dominant force in Bitcoin mining to counter CBDC threats.

At recent events in San Francisco and Wisconsin, Trump vowed to confront the Democratic party’s anti-crypto policies. He has also voiced his opposition to Biden’s executive order, aiming to prevent AI from censoring American citizens’ speech.

Biden’s AI executive order seeks to establish standards for AI development that prioritize rights, privacy, and responsible advancement of AI technology.
