OORT collaborates with US NSF to enhance decentralized AI and autonomous vehicle safety

Published:

OORT, a decentralized AI cloud platform, has partnered with the US National Science Foundation’s (NSF) eCAT (Electric, Connected, and Autonomous Technologies for Mobility) IUCRC research center to advance next-generation technologies for electric, connected, and autonomous vehicles, as revealed to CryptoSlate.

Beginning on July 10, the collaboration involves renowned US universities such as Wayne State University, Clarkson University, the University of North Texas, the University of Delaware, and Oakland University. The project will focus on “Research Thrust #4: Infrastructure for Connectivity and Safety,” utilizing OORT’s products, including the OORT DataHub and OORT Storage.

OORT also plans to work with Western Digital, a leader in American data storage, to explore the potential of AI and mobility innovations in conjunction with cutting-edge technology and industry expertise.

OORT CEO Max Li expressed excitement about leveraging decentralization technology in real-world products, starting with autonomous vehicles. Li stated, “Decentralization technology has immense potential, and we are excited to see it applied in real-world products, with autonomous vehicles being an ideal starting point.”

Meanwhile, Caisheng Wang, director of the eCAT Center at Wayne State University, highlighted the significance of the partnership and its potential to drive advancements in next-generation mobility technologies, reinforcing US leadership in this critical field.

The NSF plays a crucial role in shaping the future of science and technology, funding a quarter of all federally supported research at US universities with an annual budget of $9.9 billion. Through the Industry-University Cooperative Research Centers (IUCRC) program, the NSF encourages collaboration between universities and industries.

This collaboration with the NSF follows OORT’s recent expansion into Asia, where the company partnered with China’s Shenzhen Data Exchange to expand its products in the region.
