Charles Hoskinson on the Launch of PRAGMA

Charles Hoskinson, creator of Cardano and CEO of IOHK, recently shared his thoughts on the launch of the community association PRAGMA.

In a statement on April 22, Hoskinson praised PRAGMA for supporting Cardano-related projects, emphasizing the importance of a diverse and resilient ecosystem for Cardano.

He encouraged the community, stating:

“I’m excited to see groups come together to start building these clients and projects.”

Hoskinson mentioned he was unfamiliar with PRAGMA until recently and has not formally met with the group, but sees their involvement as beneficial to Cardano’s ecosystem.

Supporting the Cardano Ecosystem

The Cardano Foundation announced PRAGMA on April 22 as an open-source association focusing on blockchain software development.

PRAGMA will not provide funding but will encourage participants to seek funding elsewhere for long-term sustainability.

PRAGMA includes the Cardano Foundation along with Blink Labs, dcSpark, Sundae Labs, and TxPipe.

Two Projects with Initial Support

PRAGMA aims to support the Cardano ecosystem by hosting existing projects, developing new tools, and serving as a hub for blockchain initiatives. The initial focus will be on projects like Amaru, a Rust-based node for Cardano, and Aiken, a smart contract platform.

By 2025, PRAGMA plans to expand membership within the Cardano ecosystem and later extend to other blockchain communities.
